Art Direction/DesignIn 2015 we made an entirely new NBA FINALS animation package and this came with a whole new set of insert graphics. We went through MANY versions and here are some images to showcase the look and how it evolved. The original concept was to go with gold knockout logos for all teams but in testing this we realized that over live action it wasn’t impactful enough to register immediately. We reverted back to color from there. I designed the original versions and Jeremy Simches took the reigns and fleshed out the entire suite. Thomas Maloney provided all of the animation in after effects to establish the motion theory. This was then recreated in the VizRT, to match his motion. The reason for the duplicate effort was to make sure we nailed the motion in an application that was built for motion, to ensure it was best and to set the standard.
